The Flore prize was founded on May, 10th 1994 with intent to award a prize to a promising talent author. The selection criteria being originality, modernity and youthfulness. Composed of 13 journalists - with different and varied opinions - the selection committee is distinguishable by its independence, its freedom and its insolence.
And the prize is delivered in November, during a party at the Café de Flore. Mr. Miroslav Siljegovic, honorary president, gives to the prizewinner a check for 40.000 francs and also a glass of Pouilly, carved with his name, to drink without moderation during a year on one of the ancient tables of the café de Flore Each year, the prizewinner has a little exercise to accomplish: to write a short story which topic has to be the prize party at the Café de Flore.
